Alex Legion Scores big in Poland

Previous reports told us Alex Legion averaged around 15 points per game in Poland. This seemed low for a series of high scoring games in which the Athletes in Action team passed the century mark once. A new report from the Daily Illini quoting Coach Jerrance Howard explains the real story:

"Legion played three games in Poland and would not give the back of the net a break. Statistics were not available from the AIA, but Howard reported games of 35 and 27 points for the Kentucky transfer."

For more on the Illini trips this summer, see this Daily Illini article.

Alex Legion and AIA team score over 100 in Poland

Alex Legion must be having a great experience in Poland, as the Athletes in Action team went over the century mark last night in Poland to win 104=79. Full story is on the AIA site.

Athletes in Action come back with Legion's Shooting

The Athletes in Action team played Friday night and after falling behind due to pourous defense, came roaring back due to "razor sharp shooting" by Illinois' Alex Legion. The short game summary is on the AIA website.

We have been hearing about Alex Legion working on his game with Jamar Smith, and it appears he can be a force in European basketball games, at least. It will be interesting to see his game in Champaign when he becomes elibible in December 2008.

Brett Dawson's update on Alex Legion

Brett Dawson provides some good quotes from Alex Legion and Bruce Weber in this piece in the Cincinnati Enquirer. Apparently, Alex Legion knows he cannot afford to transfer again, and Bruce Weber helped ensure this by not rushing his decision on where to transfer. Legion points out how his shooting skills will fit well in Weber's motion offense.

Yes, Alex Legion Transferring to Illinois

Well, we can honestly say we need help at the guard position after recent games this season. Now it seems certain that Alex Legion plans to transfer from Kentucky to Illinois this coming semester, and he would be eligible to play at Illinois during the second half of next season. Fox Sports

Chicago Tribune

Kudos to Bruce Weber and Jerrance Howard on this recruitment via transfer. Apparently Alex Legion likes the guard-oriented motion offense and is very comfortable with Illinois now that Jerrance Howard is an assistant there.

Alex Legion could transfer to Illinois

According to Marc Maggard, a guy that follows Kentucky basketball closely, Alex Legion might be looking at Illinois as he plans to transfer to another school this year. Marc has been posting on Illinois Loyalty on this topic, and it makes for interesting speculation, if nothing else. Apparently, Jerrance Howard spent the summer with Alex Legion at Kentucky and knows him well. Link
