Crandall Head and Luther Head, a nice Brother Combo

Crandall Head plays and looks just like Luther Head, only he is taller, according to experts in this article from the News Gazette.

According to Luther, he did not pressure Crandall to go to the U of I, even though he was recommending the school and is close friends with Jerrance Howard. Luther is glad his brother can follow in his footsteps as an Illini, and Crandall does not seem to be bothered by the pressure.

It would be nice to be in Champaign to see them playing together, and see them side-by-side. Maybe one of my readers can point to a photo of them together.

Crandall Head and Jereme Richmond likely Top 10 Nationally

According to recruiting analyst Roy Schmidt, national recruiting analysts are finally noticing the ability of Crandall Head at the King James Classic this past weekend. The rest of us have been excited about Crandall Head for some time, being familiar with Luther Head and his Illinois-bound brother.

Schmidt feels that both Richmond and Head will likely be ranked in the top ten players for their class nationally. In other words, they are expected to be McDonald's All-Americans (aka burger boys). Two burger boys in one class equals a top notch recruiting class and an excellent chance to make another run in the NCAAs.

This kind of news is great for this Illini fan.

Sun-Times Article about Crandall Head

Crandall Head's stock is rising this season, and this article talks about his role in a win against Rich East, as he scored 18 points and hit some key free throws down the stretch. Maybe the Illini free throw shooting will be great by 2010!

Some recruiting people are saying Crandall Head could be in the top 10 nationally for the class of 2010, very impressive Crandall.

Crandall Head finally commits at Penn State Game

By the way, as expected for months, Crandall Head did commit after the Penn State game. That was an unusual game for the Illini, with such a huge disparity in rebounding. I plan to do some analysis of the productivity of Weber's three guard offense this year for a future post. And in this article by Mark Tupper, it claims Weber was forced by his assistant coaches to start McCamey at Wisconsin tomorrow. Maybe they can confront him about Chester Frazier soon.........

Tyler Griffey was at the Penn State game watching the Illini get killed on the boards.

Crandall Head to Announce on Sunday

Crandall Head is expected to make his formal announcement about plans to attend the University of Illinois on Sunday, after the Penn State game, according to several reports. This verbal commit has been rumored for months, and could put the Illini Class of 2010 in the top 10 for the nation, according to a Sun-Times article.

As tough a things look this season, 2009 and 2010 look awfully good, so hang in there Illini basketball fans.

Crandall Head showing he's a top player from 2010 Class

Crandall Head is having some great games in his sophomore year, playing for Rich South. Here are some quotes from the Southtown Star:

One of the stars of the show was Rich South sophomore Crandall Head, who after a four-point first half exploded for 20 points in the final 16 minutes, highlighted by five spectacular dunks that thrilled the packed gymnasium. He was all alone for a probable sixth slam, but settled for a layup.

"I was too tired," Head said with a smile after a game in which he made 11 of 14 shots from the field. "This was our best second half of the season. We played hard and had a lot of fun. Now we've got to play like this for 32 minutes, instead of 16."

Head also had some great dunks against Thornton this past week.

Crandall Head is widely expected to provide Illinois with a verbal commitment in January, and follow in the footsteps of his brother, Luther Head.

Crandall Head to announce today or Wednesday

There's not much drama on this announcement, due to interviews by Crandall Head and the fact that he has not visited the other schools, but Crandall Head is expected to announce either today or tomorrow that he plans to attend the University of Illinois. There is not much information out there on Crandall, other than an article from the Sun-Times and that he looks very athletic (like his brother) and is a good student. Sounds like a nice early commitment for the Illini.

Crandall Head to announce intentions this week

The information on Crandall Head's recruitment seems to be heating up this week. As discussed here earlier, Crandall Head is expected to announce a verbal commitment to Illinois this week, "maybe Tuesday or Wednesday."

This would be great news to add a fine prospect like Crandall Head to the 2010 class, and another boost to Howard and Weber's recruiting trend.

More about this later this week.

Crandall Head

Crandall Head is Luther Head's little brother. Crandall Head was spotted at the Ball State football game today, and is visiting Illinois. Many think Crandall Head will be the next verbal commitment to the Illini, since his brother did so well at Illinois, and the close relationship between Jerrance Howard and Luther Head. Some information about Crandall Head:

Class: 2010
High School: Rich South
Height: 6-3
Position: PG, SG
Strengths: Might be more athletic that older brother Luther
