Greg Couch on Kelvin Sampson

Greg Couch of the Sun-Times is known for his high standards of journalism as he covers college basketball...........NOT.

Even so, Greg takes his readers through the history of the Sampson era at Indiana and concludes by saying Sampson and Greenspan must go, so Indiana can remove the Stain on Hoosiers Name.

Greg also is fairly sure Eric Gordon was not involved in the improprieties alleged by the NCAA, but later accuses Sampson of stealing Gordon and being the "King of a slimy business."

Why bother with a trial or due process rights, after all the mighty media has spoken? Seems best that Illinois mind it's own glass house. Last I checked, the fighting Illini were struggling to stay out of the cellar and Indiana was 2 games away from another Big 10 championship. If Illinois fans were my own kids I would say "stop looking at others to blame and accept responsibility for your own mistakes." IU will clean up its own mess, so just turn your attention back to your own problems...

Legalpubmeister,

Always love your comments from east of the border! I think Illini fans hope the mighty media is wrong, and Sampson is left in Bloomington twisting in the wind, awaiting his due process from the NCAA. Yes, we are nearly in the cellar, so we need to read about Sampson to cheer ourselves up. After all, the mighty media ridiculed Illini fans for calling Kelvin "a liar and cheater" then turn around and call him worse names a week later. Sad state of affairs for the media.

We are glad to hear that IU fans do not put up with the rule breaking of Sampson and company, once the NCAA got involved. However, it's interesting how supportive the fans were until the media got on his case this past week.

If IU fans were my kids, I would tell them to stay inside for the time being, for fear that someone would take away their Ebanks doll.

Oh, one more thing. If the NCAA is unfair to IU this summer, what is the name of the new organization they will belong to? Is it the CBI? Maybe we will see you there!

Reform should start by making high school players eligible for the pros. That would reduce the amount of competition for the 5 to 10 kids a year who are at the highest level.

IU self reported. Don't forget the significance of self reporting. Look for a suspension of K.S. tomorrow while charges are pending. K.S. has already been fined $500,000 and IU voluntarily gave up one scholarship per year. Self reporting + self punishment = a kinder gentler NCAA...

Thanks for the comments on recruiting and the fate of Sampson tomorrow. I think the NCAA will be fair, and the stance of IU toward the major violations should help quite a bit this summer.
